Demand Accountability in the Management of Natural Resources

We citizens of Belize hereby join the call to the Government of Belize and our ministry of natural resources for increased transparency, efficiency and accountability in the management and distribution of national land. We further call on the government and ministry to work with us on the establishment of a new land distribution policy, to include incentives for small scale agricultural development and a first time land ownership drive. Finally, to address the problems of nepotism and cronyism that have continued across successive governments, we call for increased oversight of the lease recommendation system, real-time public access to land transaction data, and details of all sales of national land within the past 15 years.
