ANIMAL LOVING FRIENDS WORLDWIDE PLEASE HELP FIGHT FOR BATMAN.
This poor old boy would have suffered greatly. His death needs to be investigated and the stupid idiots that neglected him need to be punished.
DEMAND that the Virginia Beach Police Department thoroughly investigate the needless death of an elderly PitBull named BATMAN that is sadly dead today due to apparent fatal oversight which seems to have led to his untimely demise.
According to Tuesday's WVEC News, the ten-year-old dog was somehow left outside in a dog run area at the Virginia Beach Animal Control Shelter on Sunday.
On Sunday night, as the temperatures plunged down to the low 20s, the forgotten dog was alone in the outdoor run, subjected to the bitter cold.
Late Monday morning, a shelter volunteer discovered Batman's unresponsive body. Though CPR was attempted, it was too late and Batman could not be brought back.
Now, an investigation is underway by the Virginia Beach Police Department to see exactly what went wrong. As part of the investigation, the facility's policies and procedures will be reviewed to see if they were followed, and if anything needs to be changed.
A necropsy is being performed to determine the exact cause of Batman's death.

Dog Found Dead at Animal Shelter
Tuesday, February 19, 2013 · 04:00 pm
On February 18, 2013 at approximately 11:00 a.m., a volunteer with the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center found a deceased, male Pit Bull dog in an outdoor dog run area. The volunteer notified two employees with the center who immediately attempted CPR. The attempt to resuscitate the dog was unsuccessful.
The preliminary investigation revealed the dog was left outside overnight after a caretaker had taken the dog outside Sunday afternoon. The Virginia Beach Police Department has initiated an investigation into all aspects of the matter including the shelter's policies and procedures and whether they were followed by employees.
A necropsy will be performed on the dog to determine the cause of death. Also, the State Veterinarian has been contacted in regards to this incident.
This case remains under investigation by detectives at the Second Precinct.
