The FDA has banned BPA from baby bottles and sippy cups, protecting some of the most vulnerable people in the US from its toxic effects. However, BPA is in many other products that children and adults come into contact with everyday. Why, if we know that this chemical is harmful, would we permit our citizens to be exposed to it?

Jeanne Rizzo, a registered nurse, President and CEO of Breast Cancer Fund, and one of the co-sponsors of this petition said this about BPA:

"If BPA were being studied as a pharmaceutical drug, it's highly doubtful, given its interaction with animals, that it would make it into a clinical trial with humans. It wouldn't make it into a clinical trial, and yet we're already in a clinical trial and we're all the subjects..." (Forbes, December 2011).

Impact on Our Health

The chemical additive BPA is an endocrine disruptor and can be found in plastic, plastic water bottles, in epoxy resins used to coat the inside food and drinks cans, dental fillings and sealants, and even paper receipts. BPA has been linked to a variety of diseases including:

  • Autism
  • Prostate and breast cancers
  • Attention disorder
  • ADHD
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Heart disease in women
  • Depression
  • Learning disorders
  • Asthma
  • Obesity
  • Type-2 diabetes
  • Infertility

That's just the beginning. In some cases BPA has been studied and found to decrease the effectiveness of chemotherapy. Babies and young children are reportedly especially sensitive to the harmful effects of BPA. A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study found BPA in 95% of adult human urine samples and 93% of samples in children. A new study released says that BPA levels in kids is linked to risk for heart and kidney damage. In a nutshell, BPA is toxic and we shouldn't be exposed to it.

Take Action

The US FDA has the power to act on behalf of the health and safety of the American people. By banning BPA from all food and drink products and packages, the Dr. Hamburg, the head of the FDA, can protect Americans from unwittingly consuming a dangerous chemical. Please sign this petition and get your networks involved to urge the FDA to completely ban BPA.

Okay everyone, We know that the Government agencies that are payed for by yours and my taxes are actually making copious amounts of their money from the very companies they are supposedly protecting the American people from! As we have all been affected by Teflon, and it is supposed that every man, women, and child now has it in their bloodstream! I think we need to go after the government agencies that are duplicitous, and clean house. We need honorable ethical people who want to keep Americans safe from companies that would and
