Sorry, the correct answer is

15%

According to a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services study, fewer than 15% of elementary school-aged children eat the recommended five or more servings of fruit and vegetables daily. That means four out of five children in the US are not getting the nutrition they need!

Can you help us reach our goal of 1,000 responses?

How many US children actually get their recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables?

1,000

Children are not getting the daily servings of fruits and vegetables they need for their growing bodies and minds to thrive. Instead of healthy produce, they are eating high-fat and sugary snacks. This leads to an astounding one in three school-aged children being overweight or      obese. The next generation could be one of the unhealthiest ever if we don't act now. Children's lunches continue to be filled with foods high in salt and sugar, high fructose corn syrup is nearly impossible to avoid, and the healthy options remain difficult to find. The next generation deserves to have access to healthy food options and there is no better place to make sure that happens than in our schools.

This effort is going to take all of us.

This is why it is so important to take the Mind Gardens pledge and share it with your community. Mind Gardens wants children to eat right, not only in Jamaica, but stateside as well. Together we can shift this trend and get healthy fruits and vegetables to cafeterias and kitchen tables nationwide.

Help spread the word about Mind Gardens today, and we can build this cause (and more community gardens) in our own backyard!

Feeding children junk is feeding them disrespect. If we can afford to squander multi-hundred $$$ billions for bank bailouts and $100 million for each fighter plane and sky-high tax cuts for Bentley-driving fat cats, we can instead afford to buy and distribute proper food for the adults under construction who are the next generation. Or else the next generation is going to be even more unhealthy than the current one. Obesity, kidney disease, arteriosclerosis, you get the picture. The...

The pharmaceutical companies exult at the prospect of lifelong prescriptions--the ruthless pr***s already want to shove anti-cholesterol statin drugs into children--but it should be our mission in life to greatly decrease their market and profits.
This is not at all about lack of resources, this is about failing to prioritize and spend them properly, and about the selfish, misguided human slime in places of power and administration who we empower to make decisions about our health and the health of our children.

Hello Mark Mc Kennon I totally agree with you! Thankfully there is also a company that agrees with us! They have put together a simple way to get nutrition into kids, and a mission to cure malnutrition! Please check this out! It may be something you find exciting! :) www.navig8.me/475884

Nuts as almond seeds , a few pistachio seeds unroasted, a few peanut seeds unsalted, a walnut seed, a chestnut seed unsalted,... These nuts are very good as I told you every day or few days in place of any killer snack. Pack these in a bag when going out.

Watermelon and sugar beet are also so important in vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. ******

:) I would like to share something really exciting in helping the kids (and adults) get more nutrients from food (rather than vitamin pills!) This company donates to orphanages and to children with life threatening illness, reports come back "Amazing Health Improvements!" Of course they would, Its the nutrients missing from our modern diet! Nature has it RIGHT! www.navig8.me/475884 Please check this out, message me. Lets do what we can to help! :) Thank You!

While we are addressing this issue, how many children (and their parents) are being poisoned by flouridated water? Fluoride harms us in many ways. One way is by killing brain cells. It can and does make people sick. I wonder how many suicides weren't from depression, but were from mixing fluoride with an illness plus medication?

I'm french and I vote 15%, because of well know bad nutrition in USA (I do not know is how this is the case, it's just the vision that we have of the outside). It's used to tell that French have a good diet but I'm sure we are under 50%, so less than one in two children, perhaps childs are not the priority of many countries..., not to mention those who don't have access because of poverty.
