Statistics show that tightening gun laws actually raises the amount of violent crime. The problem is that our streets are awash with unregistered guns already, so when you tighten gun control all you are doing is making it tougher for the law abiding citizens to protect themselves while at the same time creating a free for all for the criminals that aren't exactly buying their guns legally. This whole package of laws that they are talking about implementing would not have stopped this school...

Just another round of impotent laws from another incompetent puppet of big business. Even if you could remove all the guns from the streets, which is impossible, you still wouldn't stop violent crime. Crazy people will continue to find a way to kill others, so where does this stop? Are we going to ban sharp eating utensils? Maybe we should ban stones while we are at it, because you can kill someone by throwing stones at them. While we are at it we should ban cars because far more people die in collisions each year compared to people that die from gun violence. Or maybe we should try to deal with the real problem which is getting help for mentally deranged people instead of letting them fall through the cracks and forgetting about them until something like this school shooting happens.
