SEE SOMETHING, DO SOMETHING! NO MORE VIOLENCE!

My name is Lisah Ellison and I am a resident at the Bernard Baruch Houses. I don't know about you all but I am extremely tired of this senseless violence and especially when a life is taken. I am taking a stand against the violence in my community and I hope that you all will join me in doing so. I have gotten a lot of feedback and support from many, I am grateful but I need ALL OF YOU! I have been asking around and I have been hearing what the community wants and the requests and demands are: To open the "White House" located In the Big Park of Baruch Houses.1) To open up community centers in all of the developments during the evenings as well as the day so that it may be appropriate for all ages . 2) To incorporate social projects at the centers which would include: alternatives for the youth, employment resources, education and empowerment groups etc,: The kids want recreational activities but have no outlet. Of course, there are programs such as the YMCA and the NYC Parks and Recreation centers but the membership fees are too expensive. We need NYC Parks and Recreation to lower their membership fees so that the youth in our community can utilize their facility that is in "our" community. NYCHA has community centers on all of it's properties, we need suitable programs that would interest our youth. NYCHA needs to hear our voice as one. NYC Parks and Recreation needs to hear our voice as one. We want our kids off the streets! We want and need resources in our community for our youth . People if we don't stand up and fight for the cause, our youth will not make it out, They will become memories right here. We the people are petitioning to: Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, Borough President Scott Stringer and constituents alike.
