Send Jumba and Imani Home to Die

Dear Prosecutor La Sala,

Susan and Gary Kolb came to your town over one year ago to start a new life with their son and their two dogs Jumba and Imani. They knew these "Gentle Giants" were good dogs. They also knew that neighbors might be frightened of these beautiful Boerboels so they walked the dogs at 5:30 am in the morning with the required muzzles and short leashes. You never made an effort to learn about the Kolbs. You never made an effort to learn about the Boerboel breed. Instead, you listened to one or two troublemakers in the neighborhood. You allowed the police to follow the Kolbs day and night and when one dog dislodged his muzzle, you arrested the Kolbs and impounded the dogs, charging that the owners had violated their Consent Order with the Town of Jersey City.
It has been more than one year. and the case winds through Court in Morristown New Jersey. The Kolbs have visited their dogs every day and worked with them on training and discipline. Still you have not made any effort to learn who these good people are. You have testified to a Judge that these dogs are of the "warbell" breed and that they should be sent away for retraining as Michael Vick's dogs were. This is completely untrue yet to this day you close your eyes and ears to reason.
After one year of imprisonment, unable to get adequate sunlight or medical treatment on a regular basis, both dogs have intestinal parasites. The female has lost 15 pounds. the male is dying of lymphoma. We are signing this petition to beg you to let the dogs go home to the people who love and care for them. Let them go home to die.
