To: Senator Bill Nelson, Representative Frederica Wilson, and the Congress of the United States of America

On January 10, 2007, Representative Charles Rangel introduced H. Con. Res. 24 to the 110th Congress: "Expressing the sense of the Congress that the President should grant a pardon to Marcus Mosiah Garvey to clear his name and affirm his innocence of crimes for which he was unjustly prosecuted...

On January 10, 2007, Representative Charles Rangel introduced H. Con. Res. 24 to the 110th Congress: "Expressing the sense of the Congress that the President should grant a pardon to Marcus Mosiah Garvey to clear his name and affirm his innocence of crimes for which he was unjustly prosecuted and convicted." This bill didn't make it out of committee.

We, the undersigned, are requesting the assistance of our representatives in reintroducing the resolution with the following change in the wording: "Expressing the sense of the Congress that the President should exonerate Marcus Mosiah Garvey to clear his name and affirm his innocence of crimes for which he was unjustly prosecuted and convicted." We urge Congress to take action and reintroduce H.Con.Res. 24 to exonerate Marcus Mosiah Garvey. Check out the bill here: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/110/hconres24/text

I have lost touch of the original story but I think if majority wish him exonerated, so be it. I totally agree.

The following is an excerpt from a book entitled "The Story of the Jamaican People" Marcus Mosiah Garvey. 1887-1940: In 1919 the United States Department of Justice , under J. Edgar Hoover, assigned special agents to monitor his activities, and an attempt was made upon his life that year. Efforts were also made to keep him out of the United States by denying him a re-entry visa in 1921....

The belief that intelligent humans will do the right thing is at times troubling to the wise and prudent. However, with God on your side, we are not afraid to request that those whom we elect to be leaders should listen up, wise up and do that which is in the interest for all, and our own survival as a race called Human. Congress put away childish behaviors, and stand, up for our Rights.
