HELP US Change Brooks Animal Shelter in San Antonio Texas

To: Mayor Julian Castro of San Antonio Texas

All animal shelters should be included in public information and websites. Brooks is part of San Antonio's Animal Care Services. Not the big, new facility that is all shiny and pretty, but an secret "extra location" where dogs go, and hundreds of them die. They are still up for adoption, but very few know of this location. There is no address for it on the ACS website. Information on this shelter should be made public and part of the ASC website.
All we ask is that San Antonio list all shelters, including Brooks, in any and all websites, and publications to help get these animals a fighting chance to be saved. Adoptable Animals should be given every opportunity to find a loving home.

Brooks is excluded from public information making it almost impossible for the public to find. Adoptable animals go here and wait to die. All animal shelters should be public information, and included in public city web sites, and all other information that the Main ACS shelter is included.

The city of San Antonio Texas is housing injured dogs at Brooks facility. Brooks has no vet, only a vet tech on duty at this location. This was taken today at Brooks. The ACS Dir was emailed with this information. To date her reply is that there are no injured dogs at Brooks. Here is the proof......you be the judge.....Please click the little tab under the second picture to see the video for this post.

Please help get the word out to change this facility that is part of San Antonio Texas Animal services. A place where the dogs are not taken to adoption events, killed during adoption events never having had the chance to be seen and adopted. Housed here until there number comes up, sometimes injured and in pain with out medical staff on site.

Thank you for all of the support. This was not intended to say that Brooks is not a important part of helping the animals of San Antonio Texas, Brooks is needed for kennel space, however Brooks needs to change, and not just put the overflow here until their number is up and then taken over to the main facility and killed. Things have to change, for the better. People need to know these animals exist. These animals need to be included and have an equal chance at finding a loving home. They...

They need to be added to all websites and documents that ACS included all other animals at the main facility. Word is getting out because of people like you that sign and share this petition. Update 1/13: Tomorrow is going to be a horrible day for the Brooks dogs. There are so many slated to die...and trust me they WILL die...why? because they go unseen, unheard and people do not know they exist. They have no voice, weekly dogs pictures get left off of the ACS website, and a family missing their dog may never know what happened to the family pet because they never even know their family dog was there. Its awful...no matter how you look at it..it is a sad situation. Brooks is not...

Brooks is not even listed on the ACS website, there is no signage telling anyone where Brooks is, these dogs do not get taken to adoption events anymore, and they do not get any foot traffic out at Brooks to amount to many being saved. These dogs die with out a chance. I am sorry it breaks my heart and it is senseless!! COMPLETELY SENSELESS. These are good dogs dying in the 1000's because they simply get dismissed. So many to die tomorrow and the next day and the next......

To just see pics and info on the great dogs that go unseen...you can go to Brooks Babies-ARF! which is a citizen run page that tries to help get the word out about the dogs. She not work for ACS, and does this page to create awareness for these dogs.

Something MUST be done about this. 1000's of healthy adoptable dogs have died this year alone at the Brooks facility and for what? How hard is it to make Brooks public? The only reason a very very small portion of them made it out alive is because a dear sweet woman for the past nine months has taken it upon herself to create albums of the dogs whose euthanization dates are quickly approaching and begging people to share the albums. The only reason a very very small portion of them made it out alive is because a dear sweet woman for the past nine months has taken it upon herself to create albums of the dogs whose euthanization dates are quickly approaching and begging people to share the albums. There needs to be more education about spay/neutering, even more cost friendly programs and HARSH punishment for the abuse of animals in this city. It is out of control. Let's get this done. It can be done.

Hey Cindy I am in need I have a full blood rott female who I need to find a home for she is my dog and my husband are in a bad way I am at my last straw and DO NOT WISH for her to go there, but it looks as if i may have to send her there , she is a great dog kennel trained and house broken, great with small children 2 and up just not new borns idk, but i am expecting a baby in may and can not keep her, she has also come down with a huge tumor on her neck and I fear its cancer i can not aford a vet visit and i dont wish for her to suffer, if you cannhelp me please call me 830-751-2419 thank you and GOD BLESS

I just got off the phone with ACS and 210-207-6654, after a few call attempts, and they gave me the number to Brooks faciity 210-296-8173 and the address is 3722 Stealth Rd. Maybe this information can be added to the ACS website! How hard is it to add this info and maybe a map, contact person? I do not know!

Thanks to you Kelly for caring!! I got the info from someone who answered the phone at ACS. So this does not surprise me that you would have a different address!!! The miscommunication is appauling with ACS and it has caused big problems for people who want to rescue, adopt!!

Amanda Catchpole Bard

That's all we are asking for! Why did it take several attempts? What's the big secret? I think it boils down to ACS not wanting the public to think they can drop off dogs there etc, because apparently we are all idiots. My personal issue with that is the beautiful dogs that ARE there now waiting to be adopted. It IS a holding cell before euthanasia. THANK THE LORD FOR PEOPLE LIKE KELLY (BrooksBabies-ARF (adopt, foster, rescue) who have bought awareness and the team at Tracy's Dogs, and the other groups and individuals that DO NOT ACCEPT out of sight, out of mind.

Jennifer Montez

In this article it states that Brooks would have 150 kennels. Unfortunately they have on average 25-30 dogs yet they still euthanize.

How di u get the word out if they make it so hard us just cause u know about? N 1000 other people don't So unfaur

Getting the Mayors attention has proven difficult. I am hoping we succeed in getting the 10, 000 and I hope he hears us speak for these dogs out at Brooks!!!

Jami Fleming

We just have to keep going, Making noise, We are their voice!!!!

Let's give these animals a chance!

If someone will take pics and give bio info., I a happy to post on my FB page. Seems like a site could be created to show these dogs....
