How can education address the growing intolerance in society?

We are interesting crowd of dangerous people .See the other side of the picture We were secure in our society when our literacy rate was down , there was less corruption ,bribery, brutality, murders ,theft etc when we were not educated. We need not to spread information about how we can loot our society , how we can deprive the people of their rights. intolerance is not caused by not being educated, it is caused when people have no way to find their rights in right ways ........... then bad ways are the options........... the solution is to develop a sensible education system and to develop justice in our internal and external behaviors and to prepare the society to act upon the way of Qura'an and Sunnat.

Assalam u Allikum Here educational institutions are just more concerned about making money. Hiring of qualified sincere teaching staff and standardized schooling systems should be followed which produces not only the high grader geniuses but also a good human being with basic moral values. Unfortunately we belong to the Islamic Repulic who lacks the basic human laws & values.

asalam u alykum electronic media i.e internet is the xclent medium to educate people but first the educated people of village , town, city help to creat a suspence of an education and this make aware to uneducated people twords education .

There is a difference between literacy and education, we need to clarify that education includes the requirement of TOLERANCE of others' views. Then we should list requirements to being a teacher, mullah, ustad and REMOVE those that don't qualify. Then we can be somewhat sure that students are being taught by professionals.

Its a crucial time to develop an awareness about education.Health is also very much important for education.If there is a sick person, he can't study well.we should love humans.

YES I AGREE AND ACCEPT THE FACT THAT EDUCATION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF A SOCIETY AND A GREAT HELP FOR THE ECONOMIC/SOCIAL/FINANCIAL BOOST UP OF A SOCIETY. A SOCIETY CANNOT GIVE A GOOD OUTPUT WITHOUT EDUCATION. SOCIETY IS ABOUT RIGHTS.FREEDOMS.AND DUTIES. UNTIL AND UNLESS ONE DONT GET THE CONCEPTS OF THESE ELEMENTS, IT CAN NOT WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH RULES OF CIVIL SOCIETY. AND CANNOT BRING FORTH THE CIVILIZED SOCIETY. THE KILLING OF HEALTH/POLIO WORKERS IS AN ACT OF BRUTALITY. THESE WERE THE MINOR GALS/WOMEN WHO WERE SERVING THE PAKISTANI SOCIETY WHILE GIVING LITTLE CONTRIBUTION FROM THEIR SIDE. OUR SOCIETY SHOULD NOT REVOLT BUT SHOULD MAKE A POSITIVE PEACEFUL STEPS AGAINST SUCH VIOLENCE OR EVERY CITIXEN OF PAKISTAN AND EVERY FOREIGNER EITHER A DIPLOMAT OR A ANY PERSON FROM COMMON LIFE WILL FEEL HIMSELF INSECURE. WE WILL LOSS FOREIGN INVESTORS/INVESTMENTS AND PAKISTAN WILL LOSS ITS TRUE MEANING THAT IZZ EARTH OF PURITY AND PEACE.

Well Its really sad to know about such happenings in Pakistan. Everyone feels him/herself insecure in Pakistan now and there's no Governance at all. Well lack of Education could be a single factor but a lot of other factors are there like injustice (which is the biggest one I assume for any society anywhere) administration (which is almost vanished in our Country) poverty the biggest issue on the other side which is always considerable for one's ruining the land. Distribution of wealth I think so is somehow a reasonable factor ( the wealth of Nation Lies in few hands and Richer are becoming richest & poor are unable to survive and ignored even. A lot more the whole system needs positive alterations & above all a SINCERE LEADER with an eye over all issues who perhaps is missing since Long. Principle of living is proclaimed in every religious teachings which is based on social justice of freedom of thought & practice . This has to be understood by the people in general 7 not by few pseudo Scholars. Nasim Siddqui
