In memory of the innocent children and adults killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, and in tribute to their families and the survivors, please join in observing this Friday, December 21, as a National Day of Mourning. Americans and other citizens will honor the memories of those lost by participating in a moment of silence scheduled for 9:30AM EST, at the request of the Governor of Connecticut, and by devoting time on this solemn and special day to reflecting in other personal ways such as prayer, flying the American flag at half-staff, and performing good deeds that help others in need.

My heart breaks for all the families in this very tragic & very unnecessary act of violence & hope all who are gone but not forgotten will RIP! I hope we do more to prevent more incidents like this! I will definitely pay my respects for a day of silence on Friday December 21st for all lost & surviving! My thoughts are with the community of Newtown in this rough time!

THERE MUST BE PEACE ON THIS EARTH. Killing is a terrible thing, whether it be in a school or any piece of land, they call war. KILLING IS VERY VERY BAD. Evil - has to be 'the devil'. grrrrrowl

But statistically most people are nicer than ever...the emphasis on these negative events is also a sickness, non? War profiteers and arms salesmen, what is the real difference?

it is business. Even the garment manufacturers that make the uniforms.......and boots....ya no. it is all business, too bad.

I would like to share this with all of you. I work in an elementary school in a suburb of Chicago, and this is what two of my colleagues did on Mon. morning with our kindergarten class. Maybe we can all help these kids spread the love by reposting!

I would like to share this with all of you. I work in an elementary school in a suburb of Chicago, and this is what two of my colleagues did on Mon. morning with our kindergarten class. Maybe we can all help these kids spread the love by reposting!

"My wife is a Speech Language Pathologist at an elementary school in our community. Yesterday, the first day in school after the tragic events of Friday, she and a kindergarten teacher decided to take a moment to spread some love in the classroom. They gave each student one tiny sticker of a heart. When they asked the kindergarten students “what does a heart represent?”…every single student shouted “it means love!” In a circle, each student took his or her heart sticker and gave it to another student in the class. When the students gave their hearts away, they would also say, “I am kind, I am caring, and I am sharing my love with you.” In that moment, every single student shared some love and every single student received some love. When the kindergarten students discussed the activity, they said they hoped that the love (their hearts) might be shared throughout their entire school. Then they said maybe their love would leave their school, and it would be shared across the entire country and even around the world. This is my attempt to share this wonderful story and to share my heart with anyone who reads this post. Our hearts are heavy right now, and the best way to heal is to share them with each other. “I am kind, I am caring, and today I share my love with you.”.

To all my Facebook friends and family - "I am kind, I am caring, and today I share my love with you in honor of those lost on Friday."

This day, as in the case of all of the recent shootings where a child is lost should not go unnoticed or unremembered.

sometimes, there are just no words

I'am Honored, touched that I may-be a part of this day and time of remembrance, my prayers are with the families today and every day as well and I will be praying at 9:30am Friday. <3

I also have been praying and crying for the children as well as the adults that lost their lives that awful day.Children that will never have children of their own and adults as well.I only have one question...WHEN DOES THE MADNESS STOP...WE CAN'T STOP IT.WE ARE EVOLVING AS A NATION BUT DEVOLVING AS INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE.I'm hurt but more angry.People have said don't hold anger in heart but in this and many more instances it's hard not too.<3

I pledge wholely.

Sheila Borton

will be praying

I imagined how these innocent kids ran around and about trying to hide from a monstrous shooter. To my fellow parents, be assured that I share the pain with you. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace.

I to want to pray for the families who lost the children but please don't forget the teachers who gave their lives trying to protect the children.~!
