In memory of the innocent children and adults killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, and in tribute to their families and the survivors, please join in observing this Friday, December 21, as a National Day of Mourning. Americans and other citizens will honor the memories of those lost by participating in a moment of silence scheduled for 9:30AM EST, at the request of the Governor of Connecticut, and by devoting time on this solemn and special day to reflecting in other personal ways such as prayer, flying the American flag at half-staff, and performing good deeds that help others in need.

I will be thinking of these amazing individuals and their families from Australia, it is so unbelievable that this would happen in a so called modern world...

It happens overseas-- that is why we are at WAR.

This is not why we are at war. We are at war because we can't keep our noses the hell out of other countries bussiness. But maybe if we spend our money & keep our military where they belong gaurding our country & not theres we would have less problems. Let Russia be the big daddy for a change!

I am so sorry for the lose of all these innocent lives. May all these angels RIP with God.

A day of good deeds. What a lovely idea.

I will be silent at 9:30 to remember and pray for all those beautiful people who have be taken way to soon. Your Canadian friends are hurting for you in this horrible time.

I have lost 2 children of my own and yet I can't imagine the pain that all of the families feel from this senseless taking of innocent lives and heroic teachers, my prayers are with you all as you mourn, but know that all of them are watching over you and will continue to do so, they will not be forgotten, not by anyone and their memory will live in all the hearts they have touched in their short time her on earth...God Bless you all..

I have also lost two children and my wife of 60 years, but I still c annot imagine the pain of these families. I pray for all of them that they may find peace.

God Bless you all! I cannot fathom the unbearable pain and emptiness you must be feeling! There are no words to say how sorry I am!

THERE MUST BE PEACE ON THIS EARTH. Killing is a terrible thing, whether it be in a school or any piece of land, they call war. KILLING IS VERY VERY BAD. Evil - has to be 'the devil'. grrrrrowl

But statistically most people are nicer than ever...the emphasis on these negative events is also a sickness, non? War profiteers and arms salesmen, what is the real difference?

it is business. Even the garment manufacturers that make the uniforms.......and boots....ya no. it is all business, too bad.

My heart is so sad:-(.R.I.P all the angels who lost their lives in Sandy Hook. I cannot imagine your pain.GOD bless you all. You will forever be in my prayers....taking the pledge.

I also have been praying and crying for the children as well as the adults that lost their lives that awful day.Children that will never have children of their own and adults as well.I only have one question...WHEN DOES THE MADNESS STOP...WE CAN'T STOP IT.WE ARE EVOLVING AS A NATION BUT DEVOLVING AS INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE.I'm hurt but more angry.People have said don't hold anger in heart but in this and many more instances it's hard not too.<3

God Bless the childern lost as well as the ones left behind that were affected by this horrible tradegy! Watch over the parents and teachers too! This horrific event took place in a wonderful little town but it has affected the world! Amen!
