We wish to express our deepest sympathies to all of the families of those lost, to the survivors and their families, and to the others impacted by the senseless and unthinkable tragedy that unfolded at Sandy Hook Elementary School. We cannot begin to comprehend the depth of your sadness and grief. Please know that we care deeply for you and we join with you in sharing your sorrow and pain. We only hope that you receive some measure of comfort in the knowledge that we, and an entire nation, stand with you during this extraordinarily difficult time.

   I wanted to address some of the comments on this page. First, this is not about taking away anyone's Second Amendment right to bear arms. I fully support the Second Amendment. I also want to assure everyone that if you signed the Sympathy Card, your name is not being used for any other petition. Here's background on what's happened to this Cause since the shooting: After we delivered the Sympathy Card to the Sandy Hook families in December, 2012, we wanted to find a way to continue to help and support them. We spent more than a month working closely with leaders in Newtown -- many of them gun owners. About two months after the shooting, we decided it was important to keep this Cause active and honor their request that we support common sense solutions to gun violence in America. So moving forward we plan to continue to talk about, and advocate for, the need for responsible reform in many areas of the law, mental health, school safety, and yes, gun ownership. That's where we are headed. Again, I strongly support the Second Amendment, but I share the views espoused by Sandy Hook Promise and many gun owners that reform is needed in some areas. I do not believe that any type of legislation that involves guns is automatically bad. For instance, I joined with the majority of gun owners who support expanded criminal background checks as drafted in the U.S. Senate legislation. I also support limitations in high capacity magazines. Now many of you may agree, and many may not. That's freedom of speech. The First Amendment. But again, I want to assure everyone that if they signed the Sympathy Card, their name is not being used for any other purpose, and never will be! Second, if you do not want to remain as a member of this Cause moving forward, which I can understand if you have different beliefs, then you can easily remove yourself from the list by clicking "Leave this campaign" at the top of the main campaign page.    Just a quick update. We are just 15,000 signatures away from reaching a remarkable 2.5 million people who have joined in signing the Sandy Hook Sympathy Card. Any help you can provide by forwarding it to more friends would be much appreciated. We plan to keep this card open and are now exploring donating the page to the Sandy Hook families so they can continue to make the card available on their own website, which should launch soon.

Laid to rest were Emilie Parker, 6; Josephine Gay, 7; and Ana Marquez-Greene, 6, marking the end of a very difficult week of services for the community. Her parents say she was autistic and though she could not speak, she touched the lives of so many around her-- with hugs and her sense of humor. Also buried were 6-year-old Ana Grace Marquez-Green. The little girl from a family of jazz musicians, loved to dance and sing. The family of beautiful Emilie Parker said its goodbyes as well, and thousands of pink ribbons were tied to fences, trees and signs in the 6-year-olds native town of Ogden, Utah.

   This will be my last update regarding the sympathy card. Thank you for all your support. I know that your personal expression of condolence has meant, and still means, a great deal to the community of Newtown.

Right now we are approaching 2.3 million signatures, spanning all 50 states, 140 countries, 31 languages represented and 5412 towns worldwide . I do have sympathy for those who lost loved ones. But I believe in the 2nd amendment and do not believe with the gun rules that it will stop murder. Those who want to kill...will always get guns, and not in a legal way. They start making certain rules/regulations as step one....and sooner or later they take all your guns. I do have sympathy for those who lost loved ones. But I believe in the 2nd amendment and do not believe with the gun rules that it will stop murder. Those who want to kill...will always get guns, and not in a legal way. They start making certain rules/regulations as step one....and sooner or later they take all your guns. Then only the criminals will have guns. You really have had to lose your common sense not to see this coming. People kill others with knives, bombs, etc....and you don't see the knife, the bomb etc..getting blamed. Any person with a pea brain knows it is not the item used...but it is the person behind the item. They can do all the back ground checks, limit ammo, etc....and it won't change truth. It will only hurt those who use it for protection.

I would NEVER sign anything that has any kind of gun reform in it, unless the change will make it easier to buy and own a gun. Like most of the people I know, I have never been in any trouble. However my husband and a few of my friends have felonies. I would rather every single friend that has been in trouble own a gun than several of these people who have no record at all. If a criminal is going to break the law of owning a gun, they aren't going to Bass Pro or any other store to buy it.They are going to a 'private party or neighbor' and regardless of how many millions of laws, regulations, rules, restrictions, and other b*llsh*t you add on, they will be able to get any kind of gun they want before I could. Reduce the restrictions on gun laws so I can be able to purchase and own a gun to protect my family and property more easily. I am not a felon, nor have I ever been in any trouble at all! I did not say the people I knew with felonies had guns either! I was saying I would feel safer with those people having guns rather than some of the people I know that don't have felonies. Not everyone has made a mistake in the past will do something bad again. To that effect, Some people that I've never been in trouble might commit a crime. This is obviously a clear case of a liberal Twisting another person's words. Learn to read and not change the story!

Sharri your reply says it all. You and your kind should never be let near any weapon. It seems that not only are you the type that would shoot first and ask questions later you are also likely to shoot yourself or a member of your family or friend. One day someone will say or do something you don't like and the first thing you will think of is gun. You are an imbecile and no I don't own a gun!!
