Stop Breeding Sea Turtles for Food at the Cayman Turtle Farm
To: Mr. Kenneth Hydes, Chairman, Cayman Turtle Farm Board of Directors
There is simply no humane way to farm endangered sea turtles. We firmly believe that sea turtle farming has no place in the Cayman Islands, or anywhere else in the world. We ask you, the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Cayman Turtle Farm, to stop breeding sea turtles for human...

Breeding sea turtles in captivity creates problems for both captive and wild sea turtle populations. According to a recent investigation by the World Society for the Protection of Animals, green turtles at the Cayman Turtle Farm are kept in dirty, overcrowded tanks, fed on an unnatural diet, and regularly handled by tourists. This experience causes turtles severe stress and makes them susceptible to disease.
The Cayman Turtle Farm also releases captive-raised turtles into the wild under the claim of conservation, but this practice has potential negative impacts on wild sea turtle populations in the broader Caribbean. First, well-documented diseases found in captive turtles can spread to wild populations. Second, the breeding stock at the Cayman Turtle Farm comes from different sub-populations of green turtles, which can impact the genetics of wild populations. And third, the Cayman Farm's turtle release program impacts international policy debates regarding sea turtle conservation.

CADA ANIMAL EN SU HABITAT CUMPLE SU MISION DISPUESTA POR LA LEY NATURAL Y DIVINA , NO AL CAUTIVERIO MALIGNO Y LUCRADOR..

we vsited the cayman turtle farm about 15 years ag and thought then it was disgraceful that on the one hand they promoted conservation and on the other hand killed the turtles for food and we ALL know there is NO humane way to kill a turtle, a disgrace.
It is distressing to hear this. Especially as there is no humane way to kill them. I'm not sure about killing them anyway. Vivienne Phimister, Newby, Vaudrey.
