Blair Mountain, the most important historic landmark in Appalachia is slated for destruction from mountaintop removal coal mining and you have the ability to permanently protect it.

Coal mining behemoths Arch Coal and Alpha Natural Resources have plans to conduct mining on the Spruce Fork Ridge battlefield, the site of the largest organized armed uprising in American labor history.

There are few sites as significant as Blair Mountain that commemorate the brave men and women who laid down their lives for a movement that has brought Americans the very labor laws they benefit from today.

Please do not sit back and allow the coal industry to destroy this treasured piece of American history.

Historic Blair Mountain, the site of one of the largest labor uprisings in U.S. history, in 1921, is under assault by the coal industry.

Coal companies have plans to literally blast Blair Mountain off the map through a process called mountaintop removal mining -- the most destructive form of coal mining there is.

President Obama and West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin have the power to save Blair Mountain, but the coal industry has a powerful lobby, so they have yet to do so. We need to make this a national issue. Please sign this petition and share with all your friends and family. Together we can save Blair Mountain and the rest of Appalachia from mountaintop removal, once and for all.
