Media is the conduit to the youth world. Youth from across Canada, who have overcome violence, will draw on their personal experiences to create media that will provide insight into the causes, consequences and reality-based solutions to violence.
Media Arts and Digital Technology Centers will be established in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. In this safe-space, youth will learn to communicate about critical issues that are impacting their lives, through photography, video and online media. They will learn tangible skills that are linked to media production, through practical hands-on projects and be provided with professional guidance from media experts.
Youth aged 13 to 18 years, who have been victims, witnesses and perpetrators of violence will use a "media voice" to create a ripple effect, impacting the attitudes and behaviors of their peers. Young people from coast to coast will learn about the impact of media on their lives and how to use technology to create positive changes.
