Tell Congress to investigate Wildlife Services and rogue agents like Jamie P. Olson.
The agency's killing programs are inhumane, unscientific, expensive, ineffective and occasionally illegal. They are certainly unnecessarily cruel. Congress must immediately investigate this rogue agency. No federal agency needs oversight more than Wildlife Services.

Please hold oversight hearings immediately and bring Wildlife Services to account. Further, please consider defunding the agency's antiquated and inhumane killing programs.
The American public and our wildlife deserve better.

Federal agent Jamie P. Olson set his dogs on live coyotes that were captured by steel-jawed traps. Then he documented his own cruelty by posting the photos online. Mr. Olson works for the infamous Wildlife Services, the federal agency that kills millions of animals annually with our tax dollars.

Demand that Congress investigate Wildlife Services and rogue agents like Mr. Jamie P. Olson and eliminate federal spending for killing native carnivores such as coyotes.

As former Wildlife Services' agent Gary Strader told the Sacramento Bee yesterday, killing trapped animals with dogs "'is very common . . . It has never been addressed by the higher-ups. They know it happens on a regular basis.'"

Wildlife Services has demonstrated that it has no moral compass and lacks ethical grounding. As we reported just last week, the agency is more concerned about covering their tracks by obscuring hundreds of pages of public records than engaging in open government. They must have a lot to hide.

Let's put a spotlight on Wildlife Services. Demand that Congress thoroughly investigate every aspect of this agency and eliminate federal funding for killing coyotes, wolves and other native carnivores.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Photos of animal abuse and suffering posted on a federal wildlife specialist's Facebook and other Web pages are stirring anger among wildlife advocates.

#The pictures show two dogs savagely attacking a coyote in a leg-hold trap and the employee posing with the tattered carcass of a coyote. They also show other trapped animals — dead and alive.

#"You can't look at this and associate it with wildlife management. This is cruelty and torture. This is wanton killing," said Brooks Fahy, executive director of Predator Defense, an Oregon environmental group.

The coyote should have been put down humanely. they are a predator and not a friends to ranchers or farmers and take more livestock every year. and get bolder every year. These men should be punished for the way they wen bout killing the coyotes and other animals. Make no mistake in understanding me. THAT WAS WRONG. But the fact that the coyotes are dead is not wrong. It is all part of the circle of life. If we didn't keep the coyote population in check they would literally be on the streets and we would have to worry about them attack people. As it is I have seen 2 in the daylight in town walking down main street in the last 5 years. Thankfully we are a small town.

I agree with you on the other facts of life but not ok to hurt or abuse any kinda animal weather or not its wild or a pet its still tortue n it sadnes me that someone whod do this or agree to it being ok has problems they were put on the earth for a reason just as pets are !!!!

Brenda Gans

Didn't say it was ok to abuse the animal did I? No I didn't. It was in a trap and therefor needed to be put down. It is horrible that they turned dogs on them to kill them. But the MAIN question here shouldn't be about how they were killed. But rather, Why are the traps out in the first place? The kind of traps they were using are brutal and inhumane. Get on that point.
And I did sign another petition for that guy in Canada to get maximum possible for what he did to that poor dog. But it sickens me that someone can be put in jail for so long, be fined financially, and never own a pet again, but parents who kill there children or abuse them severely don't have to face the same kind of heavy penalty. I am ALL for animals to be treated humanely. And I hate to see animals abused or neglected, but it is about time we put them on the back burner and worry MORE about kids in america being abused and neglected and people who don't have food, and people who can't afford to heat their homes.

Leave the animals alone! They do not belong to us; they are here because God needs them here to measure human acts. You know what? we are not getting good grades the way we behave with animals. We are disgrace how we treat animals that need our protection instead.

brenda, it will come that day when you will show your kids wild life on youtube or net.
there is no reason whatsoever to eradicate a species just because we want more and more teritory.
they have the same right to live as we do.

TWO(2) COYOTES ,ONLY TWO,SEEN IN YOUR DEVELOPING TOWN...LOOKS LIKE OVERPOPULATING TO YOU?
WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE TAKE -WE STEAL IN FACT-WILDLIFE TERRITORY WHITOUT GIVING A DAMN ABOUT OTHER SPECIES?WHAT ABOUT THE REAL THING?
ABOUT THE SIMPLE FACT THAT WE-WE HUMANS- ARE WAY TOO MANY?
HAVE YOU ANY BLOODY IDEA HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE RIGHT NOW LIVING ON EARTH?
YOU THINK THAT COYOTES ARE TOO MANY?
WHAT ABOUT OVER 7 BILLIONS HUMANS?
AND STILL COUNTING...NEH MY DEAR NOT THOSE POOR ANIMALS ARE THE MANACE HERE AND NOW BUT US
US
GREEDYEST SPECIEST ON EARTH-HUMANS-WE ARE TOO MANY

Brenda Gans

Earth was made for MAN NOT ANIMALS!! Yes 2 seen in town. But for any to be seen in town it is dangerous. It means, my dear, that there are many and not enough for them to eat so they have to hunt among HUMANS! And in our state, thousands of loggers lost there jobs because of a stupid bird that lived in the trees, and could have been transplanted 20 miles away. And no jobs would have been lost, no animal life lost, and no damage to our economy. God told Adam and eve to be fruitful and multiply. Not the animals.

leave well enough alone.

Coyotes in the west are like rats in the city...they are mean and vicious animals. I do not agree with torture of any animal however farmers, ranchers, and small hobby farmers need a way to protect our livelihood...sorry I cannot sign the petition at this time.

Elyse Carter

Sorry, you don't get the big picture!!

Lori Henderson Stalcar

i do get the big picture...i dont criticize all of you for your belief...i am glad you have not lost a pet due to coyotes killing it, or animals who provide you food due to coyotes. the beauty of being in this United States is you get to feel your feelings and I get to feel mine...much love to you

Bitte unterschreiben! Danke!

We have some rotten people in this world. It is so sad to abuse these animals - all they want is a little love and this is what this aaaaaaa's do. It's such a shame.

Chris Chrystal

Wendy, I know it is. I love all kinds of animals and could never hurt any of them. Some people are just so cruel.

This is so sad. Please sign the petition.

Go to his link , I can't believe he thinks having two dogs rip a trapped Lil coyote apart is normal when you work for wildlife services is normal is beyond me..... The whole point of your job that us taxpayer pay you to do is protect wildlife . Then you have the nerve to post to your Facebook page pics of the trapped wildlife being shredded apart with you smiling. You disgusting LITTLE man . I hope one day your ripped to shreds by the very wildlife you betrayed .
