The Sacrifice Medal honours our fallen comrades in the Afghanistan conflict, but what about our fallen and wounded in various missions before October 7, 2001. They deserve the same respect as the veterans of Afghanistan. The Canadian Government and Military must revamp the Sacrifice Medal for...

To have one standard for Veterans. The Sacrifice Medal is for a members sacrifice during armed conflicts after October 7, 2001, such as the Afghanistan War, but the qualifying time excludes Veterans during previous Peacekeeping and Peacemaking Missions. The Sacrifice Medal includes such things as death, injuries, suicide and PTSD in a War Zone. Missions such as Early Bosnia, Rwanda, and Somalia, were war zones. Many Veterans made sacrifices for those missions, but now seem forgotten by their country. A sacrifice for Canada should not have a time limit, a Peacekeeping / Peacemaking death or injury is no different than that of the Afghanistan War. The Peacekeeping / Peacemaking missions in Canada's history are just as important as the current conflict, and the Veterans should be honoured the same. One standard for Veterans, drop the qualifying date for the Sacrifice Medal.

Too many of my peers were wounded inside and out in Bosnia/Croatia in the early 1990's yet did not qualify for even a wound stripe.
They all deserve some kind of thank you from the country they sacrificed themselves for and continue to suffer for to this day.
Agreed!
WONDER ??? WHY A WOUND STRIPE DOES THIS WOULD CHANGE SOMETHING I DID NOT JOIN FOR THE MEDAL IT IS USELESS I THINK _IN 13 YEARS OF RETIREMENT NEVER USE THEM ;;;;; BUT IF YOU WANT SOMETHING SHOULD ASK FOR MONEY THAT YOU CAN DO SOMETHING WITH IT : NO ????????????
This medal should be for anyone who fought in any wars.
This is a petition for the Sacrafice Medal, please sign so that every deserving veteran who fought in any of the wars, not just those from Afghanastan and after.
They line thier own pockets with our money and we let them so what is so hard with this situation, stop taxing Our pensions!
We had two of our brothers killed and 32 wounded in Cyprus in1974 they deserve to be recognized for their sacrifice.
All these men deserved to be remembered & respected for their sacrifice. They should all be recognized for serving our country. We must not forget them~!!!
je suis d'accord.
It's unfortunate how much politics plays a role in the military. Unfortunately, those making the decisions most likely don't have the fortitude to do a tour in a place such as Rwanda, Somalia or Darfur. I'd like to see anyone of them to carry what we do when in the field and away from their loved ones.
ditto sista
Indeed, one standard for ALL VETERANS, we served therefore we deserve! Un standard pour tous, nous avons servis alors nous somme tous élligible!
Stand up for our Veterans, and show them how much we appreciate all they've done and sacrificed for us, our children, and the future.
