    Hi,

It is Veronika Fimbres, once again to thank all 1445 of you from all over the world!  I successfully got the Trans Flag raised for the Transgender Day of Rememberance!  I am back now, to ask you for your support.  I have been nominated as Pride Grand Marshal of 2013!  This is because I brought all of our community together for a common cause, and helped make the "T" in LGBT no longer silent.  I am asking you and your friends to vote for me!  The link is here:  http://sfpride.org/parade/g...

Hi! This is the last update you will have from me! Again I wanted to thank you for your support! Nothing would have occurred without you! If there is ever a cause you need help with, please don't forget me! I will be printing all of your signatures and turning them in to MUMC at their November 1 meeting! As an added bonus, I am sharing a link with you, written by my good friend Dan Benbow! He is a great political writer and like me, I think you will find his perspective quite interesting!...

While because of your actions the flag will be flown, I have left this site up until its deadline to see just how much we support we garner by the deadline of this post! So your support is still crucial, thank you for your continued support!

Posted by Veronika Fimbres (Campaign Leader) on Oct 15, 2012

We have won! MUMC will fly our Flag on the Transgender Day of Remembrance! It would not have taken place without your signatures and support from all around the world! With your help we had 1,009 signatures to support my cause! You are incredible! It just goes to show, when it gets down to community and and unfair issue, that the community will stand with you strong and firm! We did it! Thank you so very much for making this happen! Love and peace to you all!

    Sincerely Yours!

How dare they say they don't make exceptions when they have changed the flag to a bear flag and a leather flag. If the Merchants of Upper Market and Castro want all members of the LGBT community to patronize their business, then the very least they can do is to respect and honor all member of it. Well this SF resident wouldn't spending my money in their stores.

David Alexander Díaz

This is ridiculous, and an affront to the trans members of our community---the "T" in LGBT, after all. I hope they change their decision.

Rio Spooner

If they change it for bears, they've totally lost their 'no exceptions'policy. The doors are ooen. Keep fighting!

If MUMC doesn't change their tune, perhaps we should change it for them. I suggest that the decision making authority be removed from their closed-door venue.

Joel Elliott Parker

Please sign the petition. It costs you nothing and it can let a very marginalized population see that they are remembered to their community.

fuck the MUMC class traitor scum. wait, nobody fuck those guys, ever.

Oh, darlings, in action and love the flag will fly. I promise.in memory of the Compton's cafeteria queens of the TL I will make sure. In memory of the Black Rose the flag will fly. I promise. In Memory of all those of our community murdered for being trans this year, including right in Oakland, the flag will fly. In memory of the queens whose heels pelted the police at Stonewall, the TRANS FLAG will fly. in memory, I promise.

Have you engaged any of the pro trans bay area politicians or any trans allies to help? Equality California?

I could have sworn the flag has flown in the past -- has it really not flown on TDOR? Anyway: I join.

One would think there would be more understanding coming from the MUMC...

Peace and love have no boundaries - joy and sharing this planet has many facets.

So, I'm really upset and disappointed to hear about this. The Merchants of Upper Market and Castro (MUMC) has denied the request of Veronika Fimbres for them to fly the transgender pride flag on the Transgender Day of Remembrance. They haven't given the reason yet for this denial, but right now I cannot think of a plausible one.

This is a very important day in the Transgender community, it's a day to remember those who have been lost to hate crimes, who have been victims of hatred and violence. It's disheartening that the MUMC would deny Fimbres request without even providing her a reason, our acronym is LGBT, I feel denying a very simple and frankly small request is shows a lack of solidarity on the part of MUMC and a disregard for a very important day.

I'm sorry, if I sound childish and ignorant, but it just makes me angry to see what I take as disrespect towards the transgender community, by those who should be allies to the trans* community. We should be standing together, helping each other and listening to each other, not denying a small request of recognition on a day of remembering who we've lost.
