I pledge to Create an emergency preparedness plan that includes my pets
Take the Pledge763 people took the pledge
September is FEMA's National Preparedness Month, which is intended to encourage us humans to get prepared for emergencies.
But if there was an emergency and you had to evacuate in 5 minutes or less, do you have a plan for your pets?
Unfortunately, we see it all the time on the news: Survivors of a catastrophic event saying those heartbreaking words, "I never thought this could happen to me."
Don't put yourself in that position. Take our pledge to prepare today, and create an emergency preparedness plan that includes your pets.

Please don't just put a sticker on your window and think that's the end of it. Don't rely on FEMA, rely on YOU. We have more dogfood for an emergency event than most people I know have food to save themselves. Everyone get in gear, you never know what's around the corner.
A great idea.
I would like to thank Colchester, CT for allowing pets at our emergency shelter! The only thing was cats/dogs had to be in crates. Some people do not have one, so we may want to try and invest in getting some for the future.
Storage, fundraising, awareness and letting the community know its safe to bring pets, if they can't afford or simply don't have crates.
One thing many people don't think about is micro chipping their pets :*( it's a very small price to pay for the safe return of your furkid(s).
This morning we got into our storm shelter and closed the door just so Patches and Brownie could get use to it. We are ready!
I will dies for my animals.Where I go.. the animals will come with me. They are part of my family.
No matter where I go she goes with me. There's no other way. If she doesn't go I don't. Have notified fire department and who I've had to about our situation. Already had a small fire in building I live in she was the first thing I picked up and got ready to go. Her carrier is ready for any emergency situation. My baby stsys with me!!!
