Does America need tougher gun laws?

The example, or update, you just gave is just another prime reason there should be less gun control and more freedom to keep and bare arms for descent citizens. If your logic cannot out-way your emotions, then nothing I can say will convince you. The sooner you relieve yourself of your progressive mentality the sooner common sense will make itself available to you. Criminals, emotional or mentally unstable, terrorists and other like minded individuals do "not" worry about gun laws. They will get and use them no matter what the law says. If I'm not mistaken, the Empire State Building is still in New York City. New York City has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country. The laws didn't stop this guy, did they? "NO", they only stopped the descent people from defending themselves and he was able to shoot more than "one" person. This is the consequence of your gun laws. More descent people get hurt or killed. If you are too dumb to see this, if you aren't smart enough to realize this, then you are not smart enough to converse with me. When you grow up and hopefully grow out of your progressive mentality. Greg Hayes & Jason Hale, just to name a couple at the top of the list, are right on. These anti-gun, more gov regulation promoters don't have a clue. It is unfortunate that these intelligent, good intention people can't seem to understand that a gov reg, ban or law has no effect on a criminal or a mentally imbalanced person. After banning guns so that law abiding people cannot protect them themselves, their family, from those who have no respect for the law - what next? Knives, axes, hammers, how about cars? Has anyone totaled up the number of people killed by a mentally deranged person behind the wheel?

right now I am pain free my swollen foot don't hurt , and have been couped up in my house, so I'll get in my car that CAN'T run until the key goes in the ignitiom and take off, same principal as the gun and to make the point clearer I'll paint a HUGE PISTOL on the side from front to rear.. Now here I go down the road bam oh crap just wiped out 4 people man will the public be pissed, wait no they won't they will only see an auto not the pistol painted on the side, I'll get hauled to jail but wait what did the killing he was in a car but yeah did you see the sze of that gun on the car? NOW its lets make new laws against the car owners, against the guns owners they are an easys target to pass lawys against...We as in SCOTUS and the Judicial Sytem can helppush through las easer that way , we won't violate anyones rights we'll just bend the Costitution to sutie our needs and they will have to accept it.. The hard part would be for any one of our knee jerk off politicians from PRES. to SCOTUS to say lets not violate the rights of the auto killer and the gunshooting killer by creating stiffer penanalties for them both take would take to much thought process and besdies we have to look out for our own elections to be PRES. to SCOTUS might not get back in office, make laws stiffer on penalties, no one wants that, ever notice it is get the guns off the street cars to big to get off road that is hard to create a law that say stiffer penalties stiffer penanalties for me I was the vitim I'm dead , who will help make stiffer penalties against what is done.My death is not worth a thing toward stiifer penlties all I see is more so caled preventive laws. If kids cant access guns, kids cant accidentally shoot themselves or others. Compare the deaths in America with firearms to the deaths in Australia with firearms, more guns more of a shootemup culture, more deaths in America. Of course there is Switzerland, which has high gun ownership, however, the males are all militia trained to protect their country. Close monitoring of ammunition and storage exists, thus no real problems. Still that is soon to be reduced. Wake up to the new world and stop watching violent TV. We can sort things out without guns.

I personally don't see the need to carry a firearm out into public, unless I'm living in a big city that's known to have a lot of crime. (I don't live in a big city, so that's one issue I don't have to face, thank goodness.)

However, the real truth is - violence and heavy-duty firearms *have* made their way in from other parts of the world into our borders/boundaries here. *These* are the weapons that we should also be very concern about - the high-powered assault rifles - the weapons of the Black Market.

What exactly does America/our leaders plan to do about these? You simply cannot just say "stop bringing them over here" and/or "stop carrying them" - because obviously, that's simply not going to happen. (As nice as this would be, and as much as many would like to see this happen.) These guns are going to keep making their way to our front doorstep, until we figure out a way to put an end to the reasons why these guns are made in the first place and why/how they make their way over here.

Gun retailers also need to be held highly accountable - as they are also an important link in all of this. If a gun retailer chooses to sell a gun to someone and does so *without* conducting the proper and *thorough* background check *FIRST* - then they should have their license/business stripped away, be put in jail, and/or endure a very hefty fine that they will never forget. (The permanent loss of their business license should be an automatic thing, though - as everyone needs to be on the *same page* on this issue and know that this is *not* a game! This could mean innocent lives could be lost, if a gun gets into the wrong hands.)

We need to be especially vigilant about gun shows - where some retailers complete a successful sale, without conducting any kind of background search at all! (I've seen this happen for myself - firsthand! I was in shock in disbelief when I saw it happen!) This is also another very real problem America faces today!

Again, I think the same thing should happen to these people - permanent loss of their business license, hefty fine, and/or jail time.
