An estimated 8 million dogs and cats enter animal shelters in the U.S. each year, and approximately 4 million – or 11,000 each day – are euthanized. PetSmart Charities strives to bring attention to the availability of pets at shelters and rescue groups and to the benefits of pet adoption.

Pet adoption is a critical step toward ending needless euthanasia. We partner with thousands of animal welfare organizations in the U.S. and Canada to help support their efforts in finding lifelong, loving homes for homeless pets.
