An estimated 8 million dogs and cats enter animal shelters in the U.S. each year, and approximately 4 million – or 11,000 each day – are euthanized. PetSmart Charities strives to bring attention to the availability of pets at shelters and rescue groups and to the benefits of pet adoption.

PetSmart Charities is funding a new program called Fostering 4 Rock Stars that aims to double the number of kittens that animal welfare groups can save. The program, which is managed by the Cat Adoption Team, advocates for pre-adopting kittens before they're spayed or neutered.
