Jaber is a 19 year old young man from Al Shj'aya, Gaza. He is married and has a baby girl.
About four and a half years ago, on March 1st 2008, he was injured. Jaber, and his pregnant aunt were on the fifth floor of their house, when a shell from an Israeli tank hit the house.
Jaber's aunt lost her left foot and the calf of her right leg. Jaber lost both his legs.
Jaber and his aunt were treated initially in Turkey. However, Jaber received prostheses that were not adequate and needed new ones.
About three years ago, he was treated in "Reut" hospital in Tel Aviv. "Physicians for Human Rights" financed the treatment and the new prostheses after Jaber failed to receive coverage of the treatment and compensation from the Israeli Defense Ministry.
For the last several months Jaber has not been able to use his prostheses since he has grown, and the prostheses need to be modified.
The cost of modifying the prostheses is $5,500. This is our initial goal. If we are able to raise more funds, it will be used to help Jaber and his family with future treatments and some financial security. The total goal is $10,000
