In 2010 Jennifer Alex Spencer wrote: "When you read this, I'll be dead..I wish that no human/animal should ever go through life as I did, or endure so much deliberate cruelty to be placed on them..' The last written words of Jennifer (Alex) Spencer a retired teacher denied direct payments for personal assistance by her local authority.

The letter was found in her apartment addressed to the local newspaper. Following a stroke which left her blind in one eye and a wheelchair user Ms Spencer had her direct payments stopped by her local authority, even though her circumstances had not changed.

Could you live with the deaths of disabled people on your conscious like the Tories are going to have to one day. What a bleak day in history that we will have to explain to our children and grand children that we let disabled people kill themselves rather than help them

Something must be done now or it will be too late and many more people will starve or freeze when the conservatives buy the shares for themselves for £1 each and take even bigger amounts of money than the pathetic amount of money paid to its workers. Not bad bonus`s considering they are 85% tax payer owned and Dont think they will ever pay that money back on there own admission.

Maybe the conservatives should read this before the police that tried to beat disabled protesters outside the atos building last year come knocking on his door. Especially now the police are having there money cut by the same people that call them plebs because they are with us scum that dont make £60,000 a year+

  10. Update #4

There is no legal definition of a disability hate
crime. However, when prosecuting cases of
disability hate crime, and to help us apply our
policy on dealing with such cases, we adopt the
    following definition:

"Any criminal offence, which is perceived, by
the victim or any other person, to be
motivated by hostility or prejudice based on
a person's disability or perceived disability."
Safety and security and the right to live free from
fear and harassment are basic human rights. Our
policy is to prosecute disability hate crime fairly,
    firmly and robustly.

This is crazy taking benefits away from the disabled. I was diagnosed with three different types of Cancer in 2008 Squamous Cell Carcinoma in the Face, Colon which was Adeno and Left Kidney that was removed which is Reno Cell Carcinoma. Oncologist thought I was over exposed to Radiation in Vietnam, was denied Disability and also fighting VA for a VA disability. Something is wrong with the system. And we have 47% of the country on welfare and over half of them are able to work.

Terry you should be on VA assistance and it is quite easy to get that, my dad is a WWII vet and gets quite a bit of help from the VA. Please go in and talk to someone in the National Headquarters office. I do not know where it is in Missouri, but there are people who will help you get what you need. Please do not be angry but rather get going and get some help, you survived a horrible war and deserve to be recognized and helped because of that. Just so you know only .0039% of people who get help from the government do not work, I did a complete mathematical breakdown with current figures. I admire you for all you have done for your country, be proud my veteran, and get what you deserve it is there and waiting for you and access has been made far easier since Bush got out of office, the veterans administration is very aware of helping those like you, heroes of the saddest and hardest war America ever fought. May you find peace of mind and some good sleep and may you be rewarded in your journey for you deserve it.

Everyone including myself is automatically denied twice then you have to hire a lawyer and have alot of medical records ect... then you see the disabilitys office choice of Dr for their opinion and exam

this is too sad.

no-one should be denied their dignity - even if you cannot physically see the disability it doesn't mean the person does not live a life of hell every day - just because they don't want everyone else to see their misery by putting a face on to the outside world - they are then seen as being a faker - not a great world that we live in dog eat dog right enough.

Sonja Shepherd

too many people judge people without knowing them 1st!

Elaine Westwater

exactly Sonja - again though shouldn't judge everyone the same as we will be just as bad as them though lol xxx

Individual cases are often adjudicated by misguided petty and ill-advised officials.

Disabilities can vary to person to person even with he same condition, the government is seriously out of touch. Many people will loose vital support when PIPS comes in. Some disabilities, learning difficulties are invisible to the naked eye. It doesn't mean they don't exist.

Beautifully Said!!!!!!!!!!

The most ignorant today is helping all these people who are to lazy to work but deny anyone who really need the money and the ones I am talking about is the disabled or very sick. By the time they take Medicre off I don't get much of a pay. Thank God I have a husband to help me or else I would be on the street! Not only that they got to remember if you have Medicare you have to have another insurance and they don't realize that cost more money!

My son has just got on disablity and we are so scared he will lose it, but my fear is orthers whaat about the orthers who do need it like me nd my son, this is wrong I stand by my son and stand my by orthers on this one we don't deserve to suffer xx.

Charlena M Cole

GOD BLESS U and ur son praying for all of us on disability

Joanne O'Mahony

Would Jesus have done this?

Charlena M Cole

im sure he would not do what the government is doing

Faye Stanley Fowler

that is a very LAME remark!! when you try to alk in my shoes then speak ,I'm certain he wouldn't do what you did.

The whole system is a damn joke unless you're in the "higher earning bracket"!
