Prevent dogs from dying in hot cars.

2,332 people took the pledge

On July 11, 2012, a Tucson police dog named Jeg became fatally ill after his officer forgot him in a hot patrol car.

Sadly, every summer, dogs like Jeg die after being left inside hot cars. Leaving a dog for even "just a minute" can be a fatal mistake.

Help us prevent unnecessary animal suffering and deaths. Take the pledge to never leave your pet in a hot car.

Then take your commitment to the animals a step further: Share this pledge on your local police department's Facebook page and ask police officers to take the pledge to protect their K-9 partners.

Please, take the pledge in memory of this fallen officer. R.I.P. K-9 Jeg. Learn more about what you can do: www.MyDogIsCool.com

We learned today that Jeg was left in the car for two to three times the time that we were originally told -- a total of two to three hours. Also, the officer will not be charged with felony animal cruelty because of lack of evidence that Jeg was deliberately left in the car. Thank you for signing the pledge to never leave a dog in a hot car in memory of Jeg, who became fatally ill after his officer left him in a hot patrol car.

Unfortunately, we have more sad news to share. Yesterday, two more police dogs died from apparent heat exhaustion after being left in a car overnight in Texas:

Can we get 1,000 more people to take this pledge in memory of them and in honor of their service? Please ask your friends to take the pledge to never leave a dog in a hot car.
