    The Omak Suicide Race is incredibly dangerous for both the horses and the riders. As countries around the world ban bullfighting, dog fighting, cockfighting and other sports that involve cruelty to animals, the brutal OMAK Suicide Race continues to draw spectators on a yearly basis. We respectfully demand that you cancel the race to protect horses from continued abuse and endangerment.

    The Omak Suicide Race is one of the most dangerous horse races in the world and is held every year during the second week of August, in Omak, Washington as a part of the Omak Stampede (http://www.omakstampede.org/), a rodeo.

    Held for more than 70 years, the race is known for the portion of the race where horses and riders run down Suicide Hill, a 62-degree slope that runs for 225 feet (69 m) to the Okanogan River.

    Animal-rights groups have been pushing for an end to the race for about 25 years, during which at least 21 horses, including Chavez, have died.* Three horses died in the 2004 race.

    Please sign the petition to help put an end to this race.

      A few weeks ago we sent the signatures collected in this petition to the folks running this "race" and the Mayor of Omak. Unfortunately, the race was not canceled nor was a reply received back from either the mayor or the folks who host the race.

      While we are saddened that the race will continue and take place this weekend we will not be deterred and we will pursue other methods to try to end this horrible excuse for entertainment.
