PETA President and Founder Ingrid E. Newkirk is celebrating her birthday on June 11, and we'd like to ask your help in making it the best one yet for both her and animals!

For nearly four decades, Ingrid's been one of the world's most passionate and accomplished advocates for animals—whether she's helping dogs on the streets of India, demonstrating against fur at a Paris fashion show, or speaking out for animals on a major nightly news program.

Keeping true to her spirit, Ingrid is asking for your help in improving the lives of some of the most neglected animals in the world: the bullocks, donkeys, and other working animals who are benefiting from the groundbreaking efforts of Animal Rahat in India, where Ingrid spent much of her childhood.

Ingrid helped found Animal Rahat ("rahat" means "relief") in 2003 to aid these animals.

Animal Rahat now offers services throughout three districts of one of the largest states in India. The program is run by a dedicated staff of veterinarians and their assistants, animal caretakers, and a full-time community educator. All Animal Rahat's veterinarians are on call for emergencies and advice around the clock, every day of the year.

As a young girl who witnessed the suffering of India's working animals, Ingrid resolved to do everything that she could to help them when she grew up. She will deeply appreciate your generosity in honor of her birthday—and in behalf of the animals helped by Animal Rahat through its lifesaving program.
