The Sahel region of Africa is in crisis. Erratic rains and an attack of pests and locusts have created a drought and food crisis, destroying entire harvests and leaving families with nothing to eat through this year’s hungry season.

Nearly 13 million people are facing hunger or starvation in the region, where the worst-affected countries are Niger, Chad and Mali.

The children, women and the elderly often suffer the most during food crises. This year alone, 1 million children will become malnourished, placing them at risk for permanent disability and an early death.

Children in Niger and the entire Sahel region will be forced to drop out of school to help search for food for their families, or because they are so hungry they can’t get to class. That’s why we’re trying to raise $5,280, which can provide 800 children with warm, nutritious lunches at school every day for three months.

Not only will these children be guaranteed a meal every day, but they’ll be able to stay in school. Children who get their education are more likely to grow up with the knowledge, skills and access they need to develop long-term solutions to hunger and poverty for all.

Please consider making a gift to CARE today. A donation of just $33 can provide five hungry children with lunch at school for three months. What better way to fight global poverty than by empowering the next generation to reach their full potential?

When disaster strikes, people around the world rely on CARE to provide both immediate relief and long-term programs to help people rebuild their lives and create a brighter future for themselves, their families and their communities. With the support of generous donors like you, we can continue to help children get the nutrition they need to grow healthy and strong, and help many of the world’s most vulnerable people escape poverty – for good.

Rich countries are blocking a global trade system that would help make poverty history. This injustice will only be changed if enough citizens across the world call on rich country governments to change their trade policies, for example at the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

We need to stop people's lives being destroyed because of unfair trade laws - and you can help make that happen. Be part of the call for just and fair world trade. Take action with the member organisations of the Trade...

So many of these kids in Uganda still need a sponsor! Go to our site and choose one to support. You can write them letters and they will write to you. It's such a rewarding thing to do.. Sponsorship of one child is only $15 a month! They get 2 meals a day at school, an education and a small gift each month. What can you get with $15? Not much. But to them its life changing! We are a 501( c) 3 Charity. http://www.auntiesangels.com/beasponsor.htm

No one should have no choices...Some Canadians schools children have lunch programs...They have no choice...go help look for food...or go to school hungry...They did not have all the different programs that our children have...I pray they receive all the food and every child can go to school and have a chance to improve their life...One day at a time...some day no one will be hungry....This is my prayer it con't..
